About the DCBN

The DCBN was created to support, represent and raise standards in the domestic cleaning industry. Our mission is simple: to help domestic cleaning businesses become more professional, more confident and better supported.

We believe every cleaning business owner deserves access to practical training, trusted guidance, useful resources and a community that understands the reality of running a cleaning business.

We support solo cleaners, start-ups AND established cleaning companies across the UK. Our members use the network to access training, templates, 121 mentoring, supplier discounts, community support and industry-specific advice.

We are passionate about helping domestic cleaning businesses become trained, insured and safe, while also building businesses that are profitable, sustainable and rewarding to run.

Our story

Since launching in 2019, DCBN has supported cleaning business owners across the UK with training, resources, mentoring and community.

We have helped members improve their pricing, understand their costs, become employers, build stronger systems, access better supplier deals and feel more confident about the businesses they are building.

We have also created industry-specific training, built a large library of business resources and helped raise awareness of the value and professionalism of domestic cleaning.

DCBN exists because cleaning business owners deserve more than generic business advice. They deserve support that understands the reality of clients, staff, chemicals, travel time, pricing, cancellations, profit margins, recruitment and everything else that comes with running a domestic cleaning business.

Meet the team

DCBN is led by experienced cleaning business owners who understand the industry because they have built and run cleaning businesses themselves. Our support is practical, honest and based on real experience, not theory.

Louise Trehearn

Director

Louise is an experienced cleaning business owner with a strong background in marketing, sales, staff training and team management. Having built and managed her own cleaning business, she understands first-hand the challenges that come with growing a team, maintaining high standards and creating a business that works well for both clients and employees.

She is passionate about helping cleaning business owners recognise their value, price their services properly and build businesses that are safe, professional and sustainable. Louise is particularly committed to giving business owners practical advice they can use straight away, helping them feel more confident in the decisions they make.

Louise has played a key role in many DCBN campaigns, training programmes and industry initiatives. Her work has included supporting members with staff training, pricing awareness, infection control, COSHH, safe working practices and improving confidence across the domestic cleaning sector.

She brings a practical, down-to-earth approach to everything she does and is always keen to encourage cleaning business owners to raise their standards without losing sight of what is realistic in a busy working environment.

Outside of work, Louise loves spending time outdoors and taking on big challenges, including mountain walks and new adventures. She also runs a beekeeping and honey production business, combining her love of nature with another hands-on enterprise.

Diane Greenwood

Director

Diane has been running cleaning businesses since 2008 and has built successful domestic cleaning companies alongside developing other businesses in property, lettings and business coaching. With many years of hands-on experience, she understands the realities of building a business from the ground up, managing people, serving clients and making difficult decisions along the way.

She brings practical knowledge in systems, pricing, team management, client journeys, business growth and creating a company that does not rely entirely on the owner. Diane is particularly passionate about helping business owners simplify what they do, improve profitability and build stronger structures that give them more time and control.

Diane believes that running a cleaning business should be rewarding, not overwhelming. Through DCBN and her one-to-one coaching, she helps cleaning business owners feel more confident, make better decisions and recognise that they do not have to work everything out alone.

Having built her UK businesses so they can be managed remotely, Diane is now able to live in France while continuing to support her teams and clients. She shares the systems, lessons and experience that made this possible with other business owners who want to create more freedom without losing control of their business. 

When she is not working, Diane can usually be found at her home in France, spending time with family and friends, relaxing by the pool and enjoying the slower pace of life.

    Most interesting achievement

    I was persuaded by friends to test out a new bungee jump into the river Nile in Uganda while they calibrated rope stretch.  They didn’t have it correct and I was dunked up to my waist into crocodile infested waters and ended up with two black eyes.

    Where you will be and what you would be doing in your spare time- Up a mountain I’m currently half way through completing all the peaks in the lake District

    Dwell time – give the product enough time to actually work as it is supposed to.

    Best part of working in the DCBN

    Watching the massive changes that we make to the whole industry and to individuals.  My favourite campaign has been the price awareness campaign to educate cleaners about their prices and costs.  We have been influential in mindset shifts that prices are based on covering costs not just comparing to competitors.

    Why the domestic cleaning industry is awesome 

    The people genuinely care about everyone, it is such a warm friendly environment.

    Since 2008 I have set up and now own 2 cleaning businesses, built a property portfolio, set up and manage a letting agency and a property developments business and most recently my own business coaching practice. And of course, I’ve also helped to set up and run the DCBN!

    In my spare time, I can be found sitting by my swimming pool at our home in France, spending time with friends and family, or perhaps taking a visit to the local lake for a walk and a picnic with my husband. Or in winter I’ll be mostly snuggled up watching a good horror movie by the fire with the lights off.

    My favourite cleaning tip is to hire a great cleaning service and let the professionals do it!

    The best part of working in the DCBN is the community we’ve created and the difference we are making to cleaning business owners throughout the UK.

    The domestic cleaning industry is awesome because people working in it get paid to have a workout, clients get to enjoy a clean home and as a business owner it can fit well around family life and be a great way to make a living. Its mostly just awesome because of the people in it though!
